Marimba
I build two styles of marimbas:
1. African marimbas in which the bars are wide, the volume is loud, and there is the option to have tube resonators with "buzzers" (a vibrating membrane which buzzes as the note is played).
- 2. Marimbas for schools are based on the John Madin, or the Carl Orff style in which there are no "buzzers" and the instruments sized for several young people to play at once.
African Marimbas:
Prices start from $2800 NZD
In the first category I have made several marimbas using Padauk wood which you can see in the photos. I can build basses, baritones, tenor, or soprano. Please be in touch with your ideas.
For Schools:
3.5 Octave diatonic model (no black keys) specifically for schools. This can be stored upright in the corner to save space and can be wheeled about. It can be played by 3 people at once. Price is $2500 NZD
