Mini-Marimba / Xylophone
With a note range of C4-G5 this Xylophone is in the "Alto" range which is not too high, and not too low. They are very popular in schools, and would be perfect in the home or daycare as a sturdy instrument to add to a musical instrument collection for the family.
The bars and the body are made of solid wood and the bottom plate is plywood. The design is lightweight and compact with the beaters tucked away in little clips on the sides, handles at each end, and the ability to stack many of them on top of each other for storage or transport.
Credit for the ingenious compact design goes to Don Squire who built hundreds of these instruments for schools around New Zealand for many years. Using the principal of Helmholtz resonators, he enclosed four separate air chambers in the base (the wooden box part of the xylophone) which means the instrument creates as much sound as some xylophones twice the size.
I offer a special price for bulk orders of these Xylophones. Please get in touch if you're making a large school order.
I can build 2 x F#'s and 1 x Bb if desired, these 3 extra bars will tuck into a cavity in the side near the beaters and can easily replace other bars to enable playing in multiple keys such as G Major and F Major. This adds an extra cost of $60 NZD.
